We accept bank transfer.

Take the Jincheng freeway (京承高速), exit at Beiuzhuang Exit 22(北庄). Turn left at the toll gate and then drive straight until you reach Huang Yan Kou Village (黄岩口村), where Shan Li is located.  Please click “Find” on the menu to look at a map. The drive up to Huang Yan Kou from Beijing downtown will take about 90 minutes (excluding possible traffic jams)

We are unable to offer drivers or a shuttle service, however we can provide phone numbers to drivers. If you have free seats in your car and would like to carpool to share the costs with other guests, feel free to get in touch with us.

The phone number to reserve a taxi in Beijing is 96106.

Check in is 15.00 afternoon, and check out is 12.00 noon.

Yes, sometimes. Please contact us and we will see what we can do.

When you arrive in Huang Yan Kou our manager will greet you. He will show you the house and also collect a 500 RMB key deposit, which will be returned to you when you check out.

Our manager will come to your house and help you to check out.

The current rates are listed under each house in the “LODGING” section.

The following discounts currently apply:

September 1st until November 15th –
1 night weekday stay: 10 % off the listed price;
2 nights weekday stay (or more): 20 % off the listed price -

November 16th until December 15th – 40 % off the listed price-
December 16th until the end of February – 50 % off the listed prices

Weekday nights counts as Sunday to Thursday night; weekend nights counts as Friday and Saturday night.

Please look at the amount of beds available. If you would like to stay more people in a house than there are beds, please contact us and we will see if it might be possible.

Stone House Rooms or Ban Po can serve as extension houses, if you need more beds or space.

Please see the equipment list for each house under “LODGING”. All houses – except the Stone House Rooms – have a kitchens, which are equipped with common cooking utensils such as pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses etc.

If you would like to know what equipment is available in a particular house, please contact us and we will send you a list.

If you are planning to cook something that would require special equipment, please bring that with you.

As per the local environment protection provision, disposable items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body soap and slippers are not provided. We provide a basic supply of water, bed linen, towels, kitchen towels, soap. Please bring water for drinking and cooking, personal hygiene product, as well as any cooking ingredients you might need.

Shan Li Retreats is the perfect escape away from WIFI. There is a WIFI connection available near Qian Jia and Stone House Rooms, however. 

Yes. All house have outside barbecues. We can provide charcoal for an extra charge.

Electric fans are provided; however there are no air-conditioning units due to electricity is limited in the area. During the summer, the houses are warm up til mid-day and cool in the late afternoon and evening.

No. Please bring your cellphone.

No, however Po Shang and Qian Jia has some basic floor heating and fireplaces in the living room, as well as in most bedrooms.

The other houses have small fireplaces in the living rooms and in some of the bedrooms. Please contact us if you would like to know more details.

You may bring your pets to Shan Li Retreats, however we ask you to look after them carefully, as there are a lot of animals and dogs in the village.

The houses at Shan Li Retreats are distributed over the small village of Huang Yan Kou, which is located in a valley, not far from to the Great Wall. The area is great for hiking, barbecuing, biking or just relaxing.

Two watchtowers of the Great Wall overlook Huang Yan Kou. These watchtowers can be reached through a 25-minute walk up the hill from the village. There is also a “Hidden Watchtower” about a 1,5 hours walk through the surrounding mountains. To reach this watchtower, a guide is required. (We can provide one for RMB 100.)

The valley’s hiking trek offers 1.5-5 hour walks. Bikes can be borrowed for free for a RMB 100 deposit. There is a small reservoir where fishing can be done. It is not advised to swim in the reservoir.

The Simatai/Jinshanling section of the Great Wall is less than 30 minutes drive away

No. The air and the mountains are the key facilities at Shan Li Retreats.

No. The closest supermarket is in Beizhuang, about 9 km away.

We can provide beer, water and charcoal.

We cooperate with Jenny Lou’s grocery chain. You can order groceries on their website (http://www.jennylou.com.cn) and have them delivered directly to you at Shan Li Retreats. Address: Beijing, Miyun County, Bei Zhuang Zhenjiang Jiabao, Village Huang Yan Kou East Jenny Lou’s will charge 200 RMB for the delivery.

No. There is a simple local restaurant in the next village about 3-4 km away. We do offer catering; please contact us for further details!
